Windows 11 July 2026 Updates Are Out — Install Them Now

Microsoft has released its July 2026 cumulative updates for Windows 11. These monthly packages — known as KB5101650 for Windows 11 24H2 and 25H2, and KB5099414 for Windows 11 23H2 — bundle together security patches, bug fixes, and stability improvements. Keeping Windows updated is one of the most reliable ways to protect your computer, since attackers frequently target older, unpatched versions of the operating system.

You don’t need to do anything special to receive these updates — Windows Update handles it automatically if you have automatic updates turned on. If you tend to postpone updates or have automatic updates disabled, it’s worth taking a few minutes today to install them.

How to check if you’re affected

Affected versions include all Windows 11 systems that have not yet installed the July 2026 cumulative updates (KB5101650 for Windows 11 24H2/25H2, or KB5099414 for Windows 11 23H2). To check and install:

  1. Open Settings (the gear icon in the Start menu).
  2. Go to Windows Update and click Check for updates.
  3. If the July 2026 updates appear in the list, click Download & install and restart when prompted.

After restarting, repeat the check — sometimes a second round of updates is needed for everything to install completely. Once Windows Update shows “You’re up to date,” you’re all set.
