Ukraine’s Main Intelligence Directorate (HUR) claimed responsibility for a cyberattack that disrupted Wildberries, Russia’s largest online marketplace — often compared to Amazon for its scale. The operation was carried out in cooperation with the Cyber Corps hacker group and caused “widespread disruption” despite what HUR described as the target’s “strong security measures.” The attack affected Wildberries’ customer service, contact centers, and payment infrastructure, leaving customers unable to complete purchases.
HUR said the operation was designed to amplify the effect of simultaneous Ukrainian drone strikes on Wildberries warehouse facilities. According to Russian media estimates, the company has lost more than 1.2 million square meters of warehouse space to Ukrainian attacks, with seven of its ten largest logistics centers now out of operation. Ukraine’s military intelligence justified targeting the company by noting that Wildberries plays a significant role in Russia’s logistics network and finances the war effort — including reportedly selling drone components and body armor through its platform. Wildberries has not publicly commented on the cyberattack.
